Licensed Acupuncturist are highly trained not only in the proper insertion of needles but also in the entire medical methodology of Oriental Medicine.  It's important to note that while there are other practitioners that can legally use acupuncture needles for muscle responses and or release, only Licensed Acupuncturist are trained in the effects of the overall effect and the full range of effects of the meridian system and it's points.

With that said, Acupuncture is a safe method of treatment with little or no risks or adverse side effects.  I use only sterile, disposable acupuncture needles. All used acupuncture needles are safely disposed in biological hazard containers and are not reused.  The surface of the skin is swabbed with alcohol to eliminate the risk of infection due to the procedure.

Licensed Acupuncturists have at least a thousand of hours of both classroom and practical experience in proper location and execution of needle insertion.  Acupuncturists follow both the World Health Organizations (WHO) guidelines for safety in needle insertion as well as getting the required testing and certification in Clean Needle Technique (CNT) procedures.
