Is acupuncture safe?
One of the great advantages of acupuncture is the absence of side effects. All needles are disposable, sterile, FDA approved, medical devices. Licenses acupuncturists have undergone years of training in safe implementation. In addition, acupuncturists are trained in exact location, angle, as well as depth of insertion of the acupuncture needle to avoid any injuries.
How many treatments are necessary?
Since no two conditions or people respond to acupuncture exactly the same: the length of treatment depends on the condition, the severity, and the duration of the condition. The treatments build on each other and the effect is cumulative. In order to get the best results, its best to set a series of sessions, usually between 4 to 8, in order to re-evaluate your individual situation and determine your progress. The physical and emotional state of the patient is also important, as well as the patients willingness to comply any diet and lifestyle recommendations.
Is acupuncture painful?
Acupuncture needles are very thin and bear no resemblance to hypodermic needles. You may feel a tiny sensation upon insertion. This sensation is what we call Qi and can be described as a dull ache, pressure sensation or warmth or tingling. The process is not painful and you and I will be in constant communication as to what is being felt.
What should I expect during treatment?
Most patients find the acupuncture treatment very relaxing and some even fall asleep. You may feel a sensation upon insertion as the needle accesses the Qi of the point. From that point forward you will just lay back and relax with the needles in for about 20 to 30 minutes.

In addition to acupuncture, other Traditional Chinese therapies may be utilized in order to achieve the best results. Therapies such as, Chinese herbs, Nutrition, Cupping, Guasha, Moxibustion, and Reflexology may also play a role in your healing process.
